Environmentally the Costa Vicentina is considered to be the cleanest coast of Europe. It reaches to the fortress of Henry the Navigator in the south of the Cabo São Vicente at Sagres, up to the Alentejo in the north.
Here you find a special ecological system, one of the few places in the world, where white storks nest on the sea cliffs, one the last refuges for sea-eagles in the Mediterranean area and fantastic wild flowers, more than 750 plant types are found here.
For shopping, events and nightlife, the south coast of the Algarve from Lagos to the Spanish border has everything you could wish for. The west coast is one of the most important, protected areas of Portugal, for peace, recuperation and unspoiled nature, which remain unspoiled from the mass tourism.
